I am a mixed media artist, I strive to make innovative workshops that will inspire others to unleash their creative side regardless of any misgivings they may have about their own abilities.
I started my working life as a support worker for adults with learning difficulties. After years of taking my clients to art classes I became increasingly interested in the art therapy side to these classes. I then began a long path on various art courses... art foundation, HND design crafts (specialising in textiles) to eventually a BA in Theatre design.
I spent several years working in theatres making costumes, sets and props. I enjoyed my time in the theatres and have built up various eclectic skills from this work.
Since 2001 I have used these skills to create and implement art workshops within various community settings. Including primary & secondary schools, mainstream and special needs, community groups and festivals.
My own work has led to several commissions for SEN resources that have been made for schools and galleries.
I feel I have come full circle, around to the interest in art therapy. My interest lies in offering the experience of making and doing new things, building on self esteem and confidence. The end result is a by product of how we got there....
